It's Difficult to Produce a Photogravure in 1 Color; Dr. Hine Wanted 5 Colors!
And they couldn't be traditional CMYK color separations. Hank Hine showed John Waters an Italian lithograph printed in 5 unusual colors. This would require research, but that's what Research Fellows at the Institute for Research in Art do now don't they?

Color Gravure Printing
At point in the history of photography gravure was the method used to make prints. If you've ever had the pleasure of seeing a photogravure in person you'd notice the silky tones that are unique to this form of etching.
It has practically become a lost art, but thanks to the artisans at Graphicstudio it lives. Deli Sacilotto, who was originally brought to the Tampa, Florida atelier by founder Donald Saff, returned years later.
Donald Saff and Deli Sacilotto literally the book on printmaking. Working with
Erika Greenberg-Schneider and Tim Baker, who still runs the etching / photogravure shop at Graphicstudio today, they put on a colloquium, which helped revive the practice. Besides John Waters Deli Sacilotto led gravure projects with legendary Mexican photographer Graciela Iturbride and NY artist, Lesley Dill.
