Everybody's Tabernacle

Everybody's Tabernacle is an artist collaboration intended to bring attention to the Clearwater Homeless Intervention Project, (CHIP). In 1993 the City of Clearwater Commission established a task force to explore the issue of homelessness. During the first year, CHIP, through the efforts of several task force members created and funded a tempory winter shelter in Clearwater which was staffed entirely by volunteers. This program revealed one disturbing fact: need continued to outpace capacity on a daily basis. http://www.clearwaterpolice.org/chip/index.htm

Everybody's Tabernacle is also the name of church that is part of the Homeless Emergency Project (HEP), a wonderful charitable organization in Clearwater. Both CHIP & HEP are doing miraculous work to help the needy as they struggle to get back on their feet. http://ethep.org/index.html

Digital artists Bonny Lhotka, Dorothy Simpson Krause, and Steve Carlisle shared creative inspiration, materials, and the latest in modern technology to produce more than 50 prints - in a week - using IRIS printers and custom substrates. All three artists shared photographs taken by Steve Carlisle of homeless people in Clearwater, Florida.
